Wombats Poop Cubes

Wombats have cube-shaped droppings, which they use to mark territory without them rolling away.

In Australia, one animal’s droppings have puzzled scientists for years: the wombat’s cube-shaped poop. It’s not a myth—their intestines shape the feces into little cubes before they emerge.

The reason? Cubes don’t roll. That helps wombats mark their territory with neatly stacked piles that stay put on rocks and logs.
