A Day on Venus Is Longer Than Its Year

Venus takes 243 Earth days to spin once, but only 225 to orbit the Sun.

Venus is a planet of extremes. It rotates so slowly that a single day lasts longer than its entire year—243 Earth days for one rotation, but just 225 to orbit the Sun.

To make it stranger, Venus spins backward, meaning the Sun rises in the west and sets in the east. Imagine celebrating your “yearly” birthday before your first sunrise.
